Taan: A Korean Barbeque experience unlike any other in KL
Taan, located within The Five, offers a dining experience that seamlessly combines
modern design with a warm and inviting ambiance of Asian influence. The restaurant
creates a distinctive dining experience for customers by combining traditional cooking
techniques with a curated interior and innovative grilling technology.
Before stepping inside, the restaurant's anonymous yet impressive entrance gives no
hint of the Korean barbecue delights that await. Once you step through the doorway,
one is greeted by the grand and chic dining area which surpasses any and all expectations.

What truly distinguishes Taan is their cooking method, a very innovative approach to
Korean barbecue. Unlike the usual spots around Kuala Lumpur where you will find an
exhaust hood looming overhead, Taan very purposefully fitted ventilation systems
underneath the charcoal grills. This design saves diners from the hassle of eating
under intrusive equipment, while also creating an atmosphere where conversations flow
freely and the stunning restaurant ambiance remains unobstructed. Once finished delighting
in the scrumptious meal, diners don’t carry away any lingering barbecue scent on their clothes.

Ideal for family gatherings and special occasions, Taan warmly welcomes groups of patrons,
whether big or small, to partake in a memorable experience together. Within Taan, you’ll
find 22 tables where you can savour their offerings. If you’re seeking a more intimate
setting, there is a private room that can comfortably seat up to 12 people.
Once your order is placed, the indulgence begins. Like other Korean BBQ experiences,
Taan provides an array of accompaniments, but that is where the likeliness’s finish.
All these dishes are perfectly curated, cured, fermented and infused to compliment your
meal and cut through the richness of main courses. It would be easy to discuss the details
of each plate, however, words do not give them enough justice. That being said, a clear
standout is the taste profile of their Kimchi, something that one thinks they are familiar
with until Taan. If you have the pleasure of speaking with the maîtred, you will learn that
the Kimchi at Taan is a traditional family recipe that the kitchen makes fresh every three
hours to avoid it becoming too sour.

According to Taan's owners, their grandmother perfected the preparation of rice to ensure
that the bottom layer was burnt to crispy perfection. This burnt layer of rice is called
Noo-Roong Ji. Unfortunately, their grandmothers have retired but to be sure that Taan’s
patrons experience the true authentic flavours of Noo-Roong Ji, their rice cookers
(specifically imported from Korea) use modern technology to precisely cook black organic
rice until it has three crispy and fragrant layers, making this dish not only flavourful
but also very healthy.
As for their selection of meat, a diverse range of premium cuts from America, Japan, and
Australia are specifically selected, each with their own unique flavour profile. Taan's
attention to detail extends even to the presentation of the beef. Some cuts are artfully
crafted to match the elegant brick walls that surround the restaurant, paying homage to
the restaurant's aesthetic. It's these small, thoughtful touches that make dining at Taan
an immersive experience, where every aspect, from the selection of premium beef to the
restaurant's design, has been carefully considered to ensure visits are nothing short of exceptional.

Beyond the menu and ambiance, this establishment's commitment to excellence extends to
every part of the dining experience that they offer patrons. Notably, the owners take
personal responsibility for the preparation of the meat and its journey to a customer's
table, sharing their expertise and training their staff on the entire process and ensuring
that each team member has the opportunity to succeed while working at their restaurant.

As the clock strikes 5 PM at Block E, Level 3 of The Five, Taan awakens to offer you a
Korean barbecue dining experience like no other. Operating everyday until 10 PM (except
Monday’s), Taan invites both seasoned Korean food enthusiasts and those looking for an
honest and wholesome experience.
