Wander Your Way Home with Yellow Brick Road
When venturing out for food in the Klang Valley in this day and age, Malaysians are swamped by
the variety of choices available; from local cuisine to foreign dishes, humble mom-and-pop
restaurants to swanky establishments, the possibilities are endless. However, if one is seeking
comfort food in a welcoming space that makes dining out feel like you’re eating in, look no
further than Yellow Brick Road.
Situated conveniently at Block A of The Five, adjacent to Gate A of Semantan MRT station, Yellow
Brick Road is one restaurant that always seeks to make their patrons feel at home while dining and
aims to have guests leave with a smile on their face. This feel-good feeling starts when one walks
into the restaurant and takes a seat on their comfortable rattan chairs, which are surrounded by
lush houseplants and vintage goods such as old radios as well as decorative stones that lend their
own unique zen vibe to the space.

Beyond its interior, Yellow Brick Road also embodies that homey feeling in the dishes that they serve.
For brunch, guests can opt for their Pulled Beef Benedict, which puts their spin on this classic
breakfast sandwich by adding chunks of pulled beef and kale, topped with pepper and spicy Thai mayo.
Patrons who would prefer to do lunch or dinner at Yellow Brick Road instead can get their Malaysian
fix with the Balik Kampung dish; this take on the classic ayam percik dish features a sizable chicken
leg, turmeric rice, and a drizzly poached egg. Of course, no meal is complete without dessert and at
Yellow Brick Road, the highlight dish is their mixed fruit pancakes, which come with a host of toppings
including toasted marshmallows, berry jam, whipped cream, seasonal fresh berries, mango, coconut
granola and vanilla ice cream.
Accompanying this merry menu is Yellow Brick Road’s beverages. Fun fact: Yellow Brick Road co-founder
Jason Loo is actually a three-time Malaysian Barista champion and as such, patrons can rest assured that
they’ll be getting a good cuppa at Yellow Brick Road. The restaurant offers crafted creations with beans
sourced from Ethiopia and Brazil, which are then infused with unique local ingredients such as chocolate
from the South of Pahang and calamansi. However, if juices are preferred, the restaurant has thirst-quenching
offerings that include a traditional lemonade, an asam boi and a Yuzu cooler.

Last but certainly not least, thanks to its proximity to a major transport spot, Yellow Brick Road is
also the perfect place for gatherings; indeed, the founders strive to cater to the various communities
in the surrounding Bukit Damansara and Bangsar areas, including commuters, fitness groups, and socialites.
For the girls, they host a weekly Ladies’ Night on Thursdays when they offer a complimentary glass of red
or white wine from the Balduzzi vineyard in Chile with every main. Additionally, the restaurant also serves
as a hub for friends to gather on special occasions such as recently when Instagram personality ‘happylizzieeats’
stopped by with her mates to celebrate International Friendship Day by indulging in the establishments wide
variety of pancakes and desserts.
All in all, visitors to The Five should not miss out on a chance to dine at Yellow Brick Road, which truly
serves as a home away from home for everyone, thanks to its comfy interior, a menu that promises a fusion
of familiar and new flavours, and its bevy of refreshing and localised beverages.
